Celebrities shine in Gulf Ventures' desert production
DUBAI, U.A.E., 30th September 2009 - A group of celebrities swapped luxury labels and five star hotels for basic facilities and a Bedouin tent when they experienced the ultimate adrenaline-packed desert safari recently.
TV star Jack Osbourne, Hollywood heartthrob Jesse Metcalfe, British Radio 1 DJ Reggie Yates and actress Joanna Page, of acclaimed British comedy Gavin and Stacey, enjoyed a day packed with thrills, spills and close encounters with the UAE’s iconic camels.
Their itinerary, designed to showcase the very best of Dubai’s high-octane activities and famous rolling dunes, was organised by award-winning destination management specialist Gulf Ventures, part of Dnata Travel Services and the Emirates Group.
Cameras captured every stomach-churning twist and turn as the stars were taught the tricky skill of dune driving by Gulf Ventures’ expert drivers. They also took part in a high-spirited game of camel polo, Gulf Ventures’ unique Arabian twist on the traditional sport of kings.
After sandboarding on the red slopes of Alfaga, the exhausted celebs had a chance to experience the beautiful majesty of the desert at night, sleeping under the stars in a traditional-style Bedouin camp, specially created by Gulf Ventures for the occasion.
Their daredevil day in the desert was filmed for the popular ITV2 series Jack Osbourne, Celebrity Adrenaline Junkie. The series, which is screened around the world, follows Jack Osbourne and his celebrity friends as they swap their pampered, VIP lifestyles for endurance challenges, adrenaline-filled stunts and some classic local traditions.
