Emirates SkyCargo is the freight division of Emirates airline which offers comprehensive cargo solutions to more than 100 destinations in over 60 countries on six continents.
Emirates SkyCargo uses bellyhold capacity in Emirates’ passenger aircraft, as well as maindeck capacity on its fleet of nine Boeing 777F, 747-400F and 747-400ERF freighters, which serve eight cargo-only destinations, including Toledo, Amsterdam and Gothenburg.
The fleet, with an average age of 67 months, is among the youngest in the world, contributing significantly to the reliability, fuel efficiency and speed of Emirates SkyCargo services, which account for 20% of the airline’s transport revenue - one of the highest rates in the world.
Since it was founded in 1985, Emirates SkyCargo has established itself as a major global player, transporting 1.4 million tonnes across the network in 2009, while winning more than 100 international awards, including the Best Cargo Airline to the Middle East for 20 years in a row.
The department employs more than 1,000 people across the globe and is supported by a network of on-the-ground handling agencies and overland freighting partners.
A major factor in its success is end-to-end IT cargo management system SkyChain 3.0, which gives customers a range of business logistics technology solutions, including up-to-the-second status reports on consignments, from booking through to final delivery.
In 2008, Emirates SkyCargo moved its operations into the 43,600 square metre state-of-the-art Cargo Mega Terminal, which has the capacity to process 1.2 million tonnes of cargo a year and benefits from the location of Dubai Customs, the Department of Civil Aviation and the UAE Ministry of Agriculture & Fisheries in the same building.
