Emirates Flight Catering (EKFC) provides in-flight catering and support services for more than 100 airlines from every corner of the globe at Dubai International Airport.
It has the capacity to produce 115,000 meals per day tailored to the tastes of customers at a purpose-built $120 million facility that is one of the most modern in the world.
Emirates Flight Catering has more than 5000 employees and recruits chefs experienced in every culinary tradition, from sushi for the Japanese routes to a myriad of different curries for the constant stream of flights to the Indian sub-continent.
Operating from a facility which incorporates the latest systems in hygiene, energy saving, food production and automated equipment, EKFC services around 95 flight departures and 90 arrivals per day.
As well as Emirates airline, EKFC, which is 90 per cent owned by the Emirates Group, serves numerous other carriers, including American Airlines, Air France and Virgin Atlantic.
Catering facilities at Dubai International Airport date back to 1975 when 2000-2500 meals were produced per day. EKFC was formed out of Emirates Abela Catering Company in 2003 and now makes more than 26 million meals per year and has a fleet of 100 high loader trucks, including a special vehicle for the Airbus A380.
EKFC's two divisions - Food Point and industrial laundry plant Linencraft, which has the capacity to wash up to 80 tons of linen a day – both have a five-star rating for health and safety.
EKFC has also expanded into the events market, providing catering services for high-profile exhibitions and sports tournaments, such as Dubai Airport Expo, GITEX, the Dubai Tennis Championships and the Dubai Rugby Sevens.
