From yesteryear to modern day: Showcase pays homage to the remarkable history of the Emirates Group

Dubai, UAE – 14 May 2025 – A special exhibition showcasing the Emirates Group’s journey through the years was organised last week by the first cohort of the Emirates Group Youth Council.
His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive Emirates Airline and Group was taken on a tour of the exhibition by the youth council, along with senior management from across the Group’s business units.
The exhibition was open exclusively to employees and offered a rare glimpse into Emirates Airline and dnata through the decades, with memorabilia, key artefacts and rare collectors’ items on display.
The exhibition also included an extensive collection of archival photographs and film clips, including never before seen footage from Emirates’ first participation at the Dubai Airshow, inaugural clips from some of the airline’s first destinations, and even boarding passes from the early days of operation. A photo, poster and video gallery of vintage Emirates ads dating back to the airline’s early days, the evolution of the Emirates logo as well as the first editions of the airline’s internal newsletter were also on view.
The airline’s first limited edition fine porcelain collections featuring special UAE bird motifs and landmarks, premium tableware gifts for First and Business Class customers and the first edition of amenity kits provided a rare glimpse into Emirates onboard product history from the 1980s all the way to the early 2000s.
Visitors were taken back in time with a physical showcase of Emirates First Class seats on the Boeing 777 Sky Cruiser seat used until 2008; the first ever Emirates First Class suite on the Airbus A340-500 launched in 2003; and the Airbus A330-200 Sicma seat with built-in cassette player used in the mid-1990s.
For a true trip down memory lane, visitors were also treated to a dynamic history of design in flight, featuring original Emirates Cabin Crew uniforms dating all the way back to 1985 up until the present day, all rooted with style and functionality in mind.
